Books and Lonely Souls

Books and Lonely Souls

When all the tiresome activities of a working day have been done, duties have been fulfilled, family gatherings have gone over, joyful moments of sports and entertainment have also ended, colors of the evening have gotten darker and on the bed, sleep is still reluctant to take you into her lap, then there is no better option for a tasteful person than to open up any interesting book.

A book switches a person from this world to another world; a world that is more fascinating, adventurous, colorful, and wonderful. The world of books helps you to leave the trivial worries and stresses behind and venture for a new level of excitement, deep tranquility, and soul-thriving joy.

The definition of a good friend is, “in whose company, fatigue leaves the mind and sorrow the heart”. In that respect, a book serves even better than that. Other friends do sometimes give you little disappointments, but a book never cheats on you, it always fulfills its promise of peace and happiness.

Everyone needs a soul-refreshing hobby after going through the soul-crushing routines of daily life. Such hobbies play a very healthy role in our physical and intellectual growth. Different people try different hobbies in their leisure time; some opt for sports and jogging in the open air, and some prefer sitting before their tv sets. However, picking up a book to read always has some additional advantages. Besides entertaining your mind, it gives you useful information and invaluable insights that you have no other way to get.

The storybooks present us with many new realms of ideas and fantasies. The history books take us back to ancient civilizations like a time machine. The literary books polish our linguistic tools. The encyclopedia books surprise us with global information in a summarized form. Horror novels give us a chance to enjoy our own fears. Spy books play with our curiosity. The poetry books offer a soft prey for our memorizing skills. Religious books fill our souls with meaning and purpose.

Books are the major source of knowledge, the knowledge that is said to be the “third eye” of homo sapiens. If there was no book, humans would have been the prisoners of their immediate and local environment. Books tell us how our previous generation thought about life and its challenges and what mistakes they made in coping with different social and political issues. If books had not preserved the history of human thought, then we would have to start from the beginning in every era and our social evolution would have been going in a circle.

Books furnish your thoughts and shield against negativity. If you don’t have a good human company, then books offer a very precious alternate. Book-reading is like having an offline company of the author.

Books not only guide us about good and evil but also motivate us to have a good character rather than a bad one. Books are no doubt the best friend of humans. But as there are good friends as well as bad ones, books are too found in good and bad categories. Like it’s an art to figure out a good friend, books are also needed to be selected carefully.

Are You a Failure?

Are You a Failure?   A successful and happy life is an instinctual and natural desire of every human being. It's the job of every normal person to strive for their dreams and to accomplish a respectable and salient position in their society. All social institutions and norms acknowledge this right of an individual. In fact, everyone does put some effort to be a success in life, as much as their inner talents and external opportunities allow them to do. Not everyone is destined with a high-level success or to end up as a celebrity, but most people content themselves with a second rate in life while leaving the higher ambitions behind for the coming generations.  However, if you're a person who, despite all the struggle and hard work, couldn't achieve even any second rate success in life, and now it seems like all the doors to a successful life have been firmly closed, and not only you, but everyone else also thinks you as a loser--- even then, there is no need to b...

The Last-Born Child

The Last-Born Child      What is the birth order of an individual among his or her siblings? That has a very crucial impact on their future personalities and characters. Birth order contributes a lot to what we call individual differences and it explains, along with other factors, why children born in the same family and raised by the same parents show distinct attitudes and abilities.   Many studies in Child Psychology have been showing that usually, the first-born child is more confident, adventurous, and achiever than his or her siblings, especially superior to the last-born. Why this is so? Because, the firstborn, due to his or her position in the family, receives an undiluted parental love. Parents are very careful and ambitious about their first babies. They are raised in a more disciplined way and with very positive expectations. In contrast, the last-born fails to get all this and is less likely to accomplish significant academic and social ach...

Why Do We Love Horrors?

Why Do We Love Horrors?   Really, what makes us getting addicted to dreadful novels, spine-chilling rides, and scary movies? The obvious answer would be, perhaps, we like to be frightened. But why do we like terrifying stuff when, from time to time, we already experience some moments of hair-raising fear and heart-pounding anxiety in our real lives anyway? Psychologists answer: we choose to expose ourselves to any immense fear if we are assured it wouldn’t hurt us in real. In other words, while reading a terrifying novel and watching a petrifying movie, we actually enjoy, not the horror itself, but our sense of being perfectly secured from it! Also, a horror-loving reader or viewer always has the choice of closing a storybook if it is too dreadful to handle or leaving a cinema hall if the movie is scary to the point of being disturbing. Experts think horror novels and movies have a taste for both our minds and body. The blood-showering scenes in movies gratify our instinc...
